AVIATION - ACCIDENTAL MAIL - Mail from ALEXANDRIA to PARIS.
Date stamp departure Alexandria 30th September - IMPERIAL AIRWAYS flight Egypt to London by HYDRAVION COURTIER - On 1st October 1937, during its water landing at Phaleron Bay in Greece the aircraft, piloted by Captain Poole, struck the sea violently. It damaged its fuselage and sank in a few minutes. Three passengers drowned.
The mail was recovered.
