Reverse: UTRIQUE VITAM IMPENDIT, allegorical scene representing the church holding a cross in the left hand and in the right a vase placed on a base decorated with a hand inscribed in a snake biting its tail and an oil lamp; on a lectern marked with a cross is a book marked Biblia Sacra. On the right, Justice with a star above her forehead, holding a balance, crowning a vase. At the exergue 3 lines: "Exsequitum solemnia instaurata in eccles cathedr aurelian nov XVII an M.DCCC.XXIII". 63 grammes - Dumareille ed - L/A n° 2474 - SUP ( * ) - Robert Joseph POTHIER, born on 9 January 1699 and died in Orléans on 2 March 1772, burial in Ste Croix Cathedral. Studied at the Jesuit College, then the University of Orléans. Jurisconsult, judge, "royal" professor at the University of Orléans. His work inspired the drafters of the "French Civil Code" (Napoleonic Code).
