"LA VILLE D'ORLEANS A NICOLAS GERARDIN ( * ) de la FAMILLE de JEANNE D'ARC POUR AVOIR PAR UN LOUABLE DESINTERESSEMENT CONSERVE A LA FRANCE LA MAISON OU NAQUIT LA PUCELLE D'ORLEANS - 1818. - SUP Right LOUIS XVIII KING OF FRANCE, high relief bust signed ANDRIEU in the thickness of the rim below the neck; signature Puymaurin in the exergue. bronze 41 mm - 39,17 g - L/A n° 2445 ( * ) RARE MEDAL struck as a gift by the city of Orléans to Nicolas Gérardin, keeper of the house where Joan of Arc was born. This 15th century house belonged to Joan's family until 1587, when it was sold to Louise de Stainville, Countess of Salm. At the beginning of the 18th century, the house was owned by the Gérardin family, and Nicolas Gérardin, a great-grandson and former dragoon who had retired under Napoleon I, became the owner in 1818.
