This 15th century house belonged to Joan's family until 1587, when it was sold to Louise de Stainville, Countess of Salm. At the beginning of the 18th century, the house was owned by the Gérardin family, and Nicolas Gérardin, a great-grandson and former dragoon who had retired under Napoleon I, became the owner in 1818.
