Description
Paul WAENDENDRIES (1991–1991). Half-moon-shaped low sideboard in walnut, with walnut and burl veneer, featuring three arched doors and a drawer running along the side. Top in veined pink marble. Pull handles and knobs in patinated bronze, marked ‘A.P.’ on the reverse. Signed ‘Waendendries’ beneath the marble. With two keys.
A piece from the 1950s in the Art Deco style.

Provenance: Part of a complete set of furniture from an estate in Soissons
Born into a family of architects and interior designers, Paul WAENDENDRIES, an architect and interior designer, was born in Soissons in 1911. Trained at the École Boulle, he set up his furniture shop at the junction of Rue du Commerce and Place Fernand Marquigny in Soissons. The shop sign is still visible today (a ‘Ameublement’ sign and the ‘PW’ monogram in wrought iron).
The Soissons Museum holds a collection of furniture designed for the 1937 International Exhibition, as well as designs in gouache and watercolour.
