Description
LIMOGES – ENAMEL by René BONHOMME (1927–2007) – third quarter of the 20th century
Polychrome enamel sculpture depicting stylised figures in red, yellow, orange and white, painted on copper. Signed on the reverse. Dimensions: 22 x 20 x 11 cm. Damage; missing enamel.
Limoges enamels have enjoyed an international reputation since the Middle Ages. They reflect the major artistic movements of their time. At the end of the 20th century, the establishment of international enamel biennials has upheld this reputation, and the Chambre Syndicale des Maîtres Émailleurs du Limousin guarantees the quality of enamels produced entirely by hand.
