Description
CHEST OF DRAWERS with a curved front and sides, inlaid with rosewood and violetwood. It opens at the front to reveal two drawers without a crossbar. Radiating inlay in the shape of a heart on the front and butterfly wings on the sides. Chiseled and gilded bronze lock plates, clasp and handles. Moulded breccia marble top.
Regency period, circa 1760.
Dimensions: 84 x 126 x 61 cm.
(Signs of wear, losses and lifting of the veneer, and visible cracks. Restorations to the back panels).
Note: the marquetry bears a resemblance to the work of the Roussel family.
