Courting couple, France, c. 1780 Folded fan, the silk panel painted and embroidered with sequins forming columns, alternating with vases. The panel is punctuated by two medallions painted with cupids, framing a romantic scene in the centre. The reverse is painted with flowers. Ivory mount (Elephantidae spp.) re-pierced, engraved, silver-plated and inlaid with sequins forming a geometric pattern. Hanging loop. Height: 27.7 cm.
