Description
St Helena Medal, awarded under the reign of Napoleon III to survivors of the campaigns from 1792 to 1815
Made of bronze, the obverse bears the crowned head of Napoleon I within a laurel wreath, surmounted by a crown bearing the suspension ring. The reverse bears the inscription ‘CAMPAIGNS FROM 1792 TO 1815’ and, in the centre, the phrase ‘TO HIS COMPANIONS IN GLORY, HIS LAST THOUGHT: ST HELENA, 5 MAY 1821’
