CARAFA: French composer of Italian origin (born in Naples in 1787 and died in Paris in 1872), author of numerous operas.
Luigi CHERUBINI (1760–1842), composer; composer for the Haymarket Theatre in London, then for the English Court (1784–1786); director of the Italian Opera in Paris (1789); member of the Compagnie de Sarrette (1794); Superintendent of the King’s Music and Director of the Royal Chapel (1815–1821); professor of composition and subsequently Director of the Paris Conservatoire (1821).
