Description
A small Russian silver and lapis lazuli frame in the Edwardian Fabergé style, dating from the early 20th century, with an architectural design. The front is adorned with an ultramarine blue lapis lazuli plaque, inlaid with glittering pyrite flakes. In the centre, a medallion with an oval silver border featuring a wave-patterned frieze. The whole is surrounded by a chiselled silver appliqué border. At the top, a flared, sinuous ribbon bow centred on a red semi-precious stone. The tip of the right-hand end of the bow is missing. At the bottom, a garland of foliage and laurel leaves, centred on a small mother-of-pearl bead. On the reverse, the back is made of ivory veneer with a natural crack, held in place by small screws and a movable silver easel stand. Hallmark of 88 zolotniks (916/1000) on the easel stand and on the edge of the frame, and a silversmith’s mark in Cyrillic. Height: 8.3 cm, width: 8 cm, total gross weight: 120 g, in good condition, some signs of wear, old label mark on the back.
