Cavalry Officer’s Sabre. Handle entirely in filigree brass. Brass mountings. Long-tailed pommel. So-called ‘battle’ guard, with one main branch and four secondary branches, featuring an openwork shell and a counter-shell decorated with palmettes. Straight blade, with a flat back and two hollow edges; the point lies in line with the back of the blade. Leather-covered scabbard, with long brass fittings, cut-out design, line decoration, and an iron tip. Date: early 19th century (restorations, wear and tear, damage, pitting)
