After Constantin BRANCUSI (1876–1957). MAIASTRA. A significant gilded bronze of this major work by the Romanian artist, signed on the reverse in intaglio. The original, created around 1912, marks the beginning of Brâncuși’s exploration of the theme of the bird and upward movement, which would lead to the ‘Birds in Space’ series. Height: 62 cm. This work can be compared with versions held, notably, at the Museum of Modern Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Centre Pompidou.
