[HIDDEN IMAGES] - "Les Portes fermées ou Les Doubles surprises". S.l.n.d. (ca. 1820). 11 engravings (6.7 x 5.2 cm), in sheets, three inserted in a printed folio, all contained in a green paper case with printed label. Gumuchian, 2027. Coloured copper engravings with captions, each depicting a character. One or two other figures appear in transparency against the light. The printed folio narrates the scene. One of the plates also has a system with a movable door. Gumuchian indicates the complete series in 12 engravings and 12 notes. Our copy is therefore incomplete: we have eleven engravings and three folios. - "Les surprises" comprising six engravings each inserted in a folio concealing an image, circa 1820 Attached: - two small books "Costumes de différenst peuples" and "Petite galerie mythologique", Paris, chez Marcilly (H.: 6 cm; W.: 4.5 cm)
