Description
A large lot of photographic plates (negatives) from the collection of Lucien Bégule (1848-1935), a multidisciplinary artist born in Saint Genis Laval: This lot includes 8.5x10 format glass projection plates (negatives and positives) from several regions of France and abroad. Some photographic plates are in 9x12 format. The subjects covered are as follows: Brittany, the town of Arras, the Lyonnais, the city of Reims after the bombings, family reunions, numerous individual and group portraits of Belle Epoque society, several properties in various regions, landscapes including mountain scenery, travel photos, etc. Some of the glass plates are blank (one or two boxes are still unused, including one for quick-take photos: quite rare and hard to find). There are also plates from the collection of J. Béchetoille (also from Lyon). Four projection plates for magic lanterns are included. MANY FINDS TO BE MADE. NB: Lucien Bégulle, a multi-disciplinary artist from the Rhône-Alpes region, is best known for his more general work in glass and stained glass, in which he excelled. Among other works, he created the "Apotheosis of Silk", a large stained-glass window that still adorns the deliberations room of the Hôtel du Département in Lyon.
