OFFICER’S SWORD
Chiselled brass mountings; the hilt arch decorated with a lion’s head and friezes. Brass tang with mother-of-pearl inlays. Half-moon hilt bearing the profile of Louis XVI in a medallion flanked by fleurs-de-lis. Three-edged blade with hollow-ground edges, chiselled with floral motifs, a trophy and a sun. It is signed ‘I S V C’ in a cartouche on the heel.
Work from the late 18th century.
