Description
The Coronation of Louis XV, King of France and Navarre, in Reims Cathedral, on Sunday the 25th of October MDCCXXII. A large in-plano volume, atlas format, with a full brown morocco cover gilded with a centre-stamped royal coat of arms. Entirely engraved on copper, comprising 72 plates, of which 33 contain text and 39 illustrations: 30 plates of portraits in costume and 9 engraved scenes on large fold-out sheets depicting the coronation ceremonies. Published by Antoine Danchet under the supervision of Jean-Paul Bignon and Claude Gros de Boze. This major work had been in preparation since the coronation of Louis XV in 1722 and was presented to the king in 1731.
