Description
Dante’s *Comedia* with Painted Illustrations. Rome, Salerno Editrice, 2014. Large folio, full-size colour reproduction. Limited edition of 499 copies (+ 49 in Roman numerals). Brown leather binding, gilt spine (minor wear to the leather binding) Facsimile of the edition by Pietro Piasi, 18 November 1491. Text accompanied by a commentary by Cristoforo Landino. The illustrations comprise 97 vignettes, 3 large full-page plates and beautiful engraved initials. The first edition to bring together the fifteen canzoni by Dante omitted from the *Convivio*. The reference copy is held at the Casa di Dante in Rome.
