Hippolyte LUCAS (1854-1925). Self-portrait (presumed) with black jacket and pearl. Oil on canvas. Signed upper right. Dim. 65,5x54,5 cm. Restoration. Ref. Hippolyte Lucas is present in the collections of the Musée Renoir in Cagnes-sur-Mer (Portrait of Ferdinand Deconchy, 1920). Hippolyte Lucas was a key French artist at the end of the Impressionist movement. A portrait specialist, in 1919 he painted the portrait of his friend Renoir, who had painted his own portrait a year earlier. It is now kept at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia.
