Description
JERSEY.
A set of 19th-century glazed earthenware pieces, some with polychrome enamelled decoration, comprising: an anthropomorphic jug known as a ‘jacquot’, jugs, a teapot, cups and saucers, and a cream jug.
Height: 9.5 to 17 cm
These earthenware pieces were manufactured in the United Kingdom, in the cities of Leeds, Newcastle or Swansea. On the European mainland, they came to be known as ‘Jersey earthenware’ simply because they passed through the island of Jersey before reaching Normandy.
