Description
After José Alvarez Cubero Ganymede and Zeus. Terracotta sculpture. Unsigned. Damage and restoration. H. 33 cm The original statue of Zeus and Ganymede was created by the Spanish artist José Alvarez Cubero; it won an award at the Paris Exhibition in 1804. There, it was awarded first prize by Napoleon Bonaparte. It was subsequently sent to the King of Spain and is currently housed at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
