‘The Childhood of Bacchus’, a model created circa 1866. Gilded bronze cup on a pedestal.
Signed and inscribed ‘Dionysos’ in Greek in the central medallion and marked ‘M’ on the reverse.
H. 16 – W. 36 – D. 28.5 cm
History: a cup featuring a similar central medallion is held in the collections of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris (inv. no. OAO 1159).
