White earthenware, late 18th century, early
19th century, c. 1800 – Roanne –
Large, urn-shaped tobacco jar from a merchant, with blue decoration on a white background. On the body, two intertwined branches of stylised foliage with small balls surround the inscription in large blue letters: ‘Tabac Saint Vincent’, indicating its origin: the Caribbean. A thin blue border runs around the base and neck of the pot, which is topped with a beautifully crafted gilded brass lid. The same style of decoration as pot 134, but much more elaborate.
No mark, but probably Brussels.
Repaired.
