10131-403 / Tb-EXPE / Late 19th/early 20th-century China, a pair of lidded baluster-shaped vases in cloisonné enamel on gilded copper, with a polychrome decoration on a black ground featuring scholar’s objects and Taoist symbols on the body and lids, a floral frieze around the rim of the lid and at the feet, and a Greek fret frieze around the neck; the base is enamelled with scholar’s objects on a turquoise ground, and the entire interior is enamelled in turquoise. Height 44 and 44.5 cm. A small chip on the body, surface wear and traces of glue. With an expert’s report by Léonore de Magnée. (estimate: €300–600)
