A French Peer’s sword from the reign of King Charles X, with a tang inlaid with mother-of-pearl, decorated on the front with a gilded brass motif depicting a chiselled profile of Athena wearing a helmet. Lion’s head pommel, decorated with acanthus leaves; guard with a single branch adorned with friezes and fleurs-de-lis; body knot bearing the royal cipher ‘C’. Straight quillon ending in a palmette. Grip featuring the Great Arms of France encircled by the Order of Saint Michael, surrounded by cornucopias and foliage.
