[ENGRAVINGS] . VAN OSTADE (Adriaen). Drawing portfolio containing 18 engravings mounted on passe-partout, most with celluloid windows. Reference to the catalogue raisonné for each engraving. Adriaen van Ostade, born Adriaen Hendricx, (1610 in Haarlem – 2 May 1685) was a Dutch painter and engraver specialising in genre scenes, and more particularly in depictions of peasant life. His works, which are numerous and mostly small in size, follow in the tradition of Brueghel the Elder and are notably characterised by a caricatured treatment of the figures and a certain humour.
