Jean Jacques de Boissieu (Lyon, November 1736 – 1 March 1810), draughtsman, engraver and painter who enjoyed great renown in France and across Europe during his lifetime, nicknamed by some the ‘French Rembrandt’, he is regarded as one of the founders of the Lyon School of Painting.
