Tourism - Agence Rapho (1933-2009) - Côte d'Azur, Let's take the train. 1967. Printed by SNCF, Helio-cachan. 98,5x62cm. Original poster, Offset, canvas. Condition A. The SNCF's promotional campaign, "Prenons le train" (Let's take the train), has the advantage of having preserved a panorama of France in the 60s and 70s. Here the port of Théoule sur mer in the Alpes Maritimes, near Cannes. Rapho was founded in 1933 by Charles Rado - a Hungarian Jewish émigré who later moved to the United States - along with photographers Émile Savitry, Serge de Sazo, Ergy Landau, Nora Dumas, Ylla and Brassaï. It is the oldest photojournalism agency in France. Reactivated in 1946 at the instigation of Raymond Grosset, it brought together a group of young photographers who were already working for magazines: Robert Doisneau, Jean Dieuzaide, René Maltête, Janine Niepce, the Swiss photographer Sabine Weiss, Willy Ronis and André Gamet, all of whom produced the humanist photography that made the agency's reputation.
