Tourism - Yahia Turki (1902-1969) - Visit Tunisia. 1955. Printer René Sicard, Paris. 98,8x61,8cm. Original poster, lithograph, canvas-backed. Condition A- a restoration in the margin of the upper right corner. This is a view of the cloth souk in Tunis. A similar poster was in the Frédéric Mitterrand collection (1947-2024), but our copy retains all its margins, i.e. almost 1cm more. Yahia's sumptuous composition is reminiscent of Jacques Majorelle's Le Maroc par Marseille, produced 29 years earlier. A central figure wearing a djellaba stares out at the viewer, giving a sense of exotic mystery.
