Description
Tourism - Adolphe Mouron Cassandre (1901-1968) - Chemin de fer du nord, Lys Chantilly. 1930. Printer Danel, Lille. 100x62.5cm. Original poster, lithograph, canvas covered. Condition A. The Domaine du Lys is located in the Oise department, straddling the communes of Lamorlaye and Gouvieux. It was once part of the Chantilly estate until it was sold by the Duc d'Aumale and became a housing estate in 1924. It was for this reason that Cassandre was approached, with the express request of highlighting the abundant nature of this new 'city of parks'. Note the typography of the word "LYS". These three letters were slightly redesigned 31 years later to create the iconic Yves Saint Laurent logo.
