Food - J. B. Jannot (XX) - Around the world in 120 pictures, great Menier Chocolate competition. Circa 1950. 111x61cm. Original poster, lithograph, canvas covered. Condition A-, traces of folds, short lower margin. By evoking Jules Verne, the planisphere poster enabled children to discover the specific features of the world of the time. J. B. Jannot, who worked from 1940 to 1970 under the pseudonym Jan-Loup, was a French cartoonist and illustrator who worked in Paris during the mid-twentieth century. He was the author of famous comic strips for Lisette magazine, such as Le Trésor de la Crique aux Oursins, Les Naufragés de l'Île aux Crabes, Mireille de Camargue and La Jeunesse d'Arago. He has also adapted James Fennimore Cooper's The Prairie into a graphic novel. He has also created illustrations for children's books for the Collection Jean-François and for Éditions Fleurus.
