Description
Tourism - Albert Brenet (1903-2005) - Puissance Économie S.N.C.F. 1955. Printer Brugière, Paris. 108x78,5cm. Original lithograph and offset poster, canvas-backed. Condition A. The SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français) is delighted with the electrification of the Valenciennes - Thionville line, an important milestone in the process of modernising the French rail network. This impressive poster reflects the optimism, technological advance and industrial strength of the period, subjects commonly covered in mid-century railway advertising. This 1955 poster for the electrification of the SNCF is a historic object that is still highly sought-after by collectors of railway objects and graphic design from the 1950s. It symbolises both a remarkable artistic achievement and a reflection of the industrial expansion of post-war France. Models CC 14001 to CC 14020 were manufactured between 1954 and 1959 by CGC/0erlikon. Also known as "irons" because of their central driver's cab, like the BB 12000, BB 13000 and CC 14100. The CC 14000, which are used exclusively to pull heavy merchant trains, have the particularity of being equipped with a single three-phase phase.
