Description
Tourism - Georges Dorival (1792-1968) - Chemin de fer d'Orléans, Royat, Auvergne, Établissement Thermal de Royat . 1912. Printer Cornille & Serre, Paris. 105x75.5cm. Original poster, lithograph, canvas-backed. Condition A-, A trace of vertical tearing, small tears in the margins. Department of Puy-de-Dôme. Royat is mainly known for its thermal waters, following the establishment of Roman baths, which were used in particular by Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie. These are still one of the town's main attractions. The waters of Royat, described as "thermal, carbogasous, loaded with alkaline and ferruginous bicarbonates", contain significant quantities of lithium and arsenic. At the beginning of the 20th century, five springs were exploited: Eugénie, César, Saint-Mart, Saint-Victor and Velleda, the latter being non-carbonated. They provide 1815 m3 of water at temperatures fluctuating between 14.5 and 35.5°C. Medicine: Cardiac problems are treated here. The carboxytherapy method was developed in Royat in the 1930s.
