Lot no. 320
Description
Tourism - Anonymous (XX) - The Capitol. 1967. Sté Frse d'Imp. et Cart. Montreuil. 99x62,5 cm. Original poster, offset, canvas covered. Condition A. On 28 May 1967, Le Capitole became the first train in France to run at a speed of 200 km/h on a commercial service. Two, four and finally six BB 9200 locomotives received specific upgrades for the high speed. They have a distinctive red livery with dolphin grey stripes and are fitted with "CAPITOLE" enamel plates at the ends. At the same time, a specific range of UIC-Y wagons fitted with electromagnetic brakes adapted to high speeds, all classed as first class and sporting an identical red and grey livery, took over from the usual DEV wagons; a new dining car was also introduced. The train runs at 200 km/h between Fleury-les-Aubrais and Vierzon, then at a reduced speed on the Limoges - Caussade section.
