Description
Tourism - Nix (XX) - The joys of winter in Germany. Circa 1930. 100x64,5cm. Printer RD, Berlin. Original poster, lithograph and , cloth-backed. Condition A-, traces of tears and creases not affecting the subject. Founded in 1920, the Reichsbahnzentrale für den Deutsche Reiseverkehr is a branch of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the national railway company established the same year. Its mission was to promote rail tourism in Germany to German and international travellers. Its establishment marked the beginning of the development of railway advertising in Germany. The RDV attached great importance to the artistic and photographic presentation of its products. It hired renowned graphic designers such as Ludwig Hohlwein, Willy Dzubas and Jupp Wiertz to design posters and brochures, which were produced in several languages over the years, and worked with external publishers and printers who guaranteed a certain standard of quality from the outset.
