Description
Salvador Dali (1904-1989) - Normandy. SNCF. 1970. Printed by Dreager. 60x37cm. Original poster. Draeger process. Condition A.
The visual shown here is part of the suite "Les papillons" (The Butterflies) made up of 6 works, which were used to illustrate these posters promoting French regions. Dali's style was obviously surreal, but he didn't forget to serve his subject, tourism, with an emblematic monument: Mont St Michel.
These posters are considered to be the last true artists' posters produced for the French railways. In photo 2, you can see that Dali was at the presses to check the print run (the photo is not for sale).
