Description
Tourism - Jean Carlu (1900-1997) - Paris 1937, arts and techniques. 1937. Printer Jules Simon, Paris. 118.5x80.5cm. Original poster, lithograph, canvas-backed. Condition A-, folds. This is the small format of the famous poster which is a must by Jean Carlu. The event was in fact the Universal Exhibition, whose name had been changed to emphasise its global character, which the poster artist clearly understood with this representation of flags. It was an important event both historically, with the pavilions of the USSR and the Third Reich facing each other in front of the Eiffel Tower, and architecturally, because it was at this time that the Trocadero was replaced by the building we still see today.
