Sport - Pierre Gilardot, known as Okley (1924-2007) - Monaco, 22nd Automobile Grand Prix, 1964. Printed by Ramel, Nice. 59x38cm. Original lithograph poster, not backed, Condition A. It was Anthony Noghès who initiated the use of Monaco's urban circuit for the first time during the first Grand Prix organised in the principality in 1929. The Bugatti of Franco-British Williams won the first edition and was a commercial success, which led to the experience being repeated annually. For the final round of the Rallye Monte-Carlo at the end of January, the route is marked by a succession of very tight bends and the narrowness of the track. It has remained virtually unchanged since its inception. Highly selective, it allows no deviation in driving style, with the absence of any clearance zone making any exit from the track definitive. John Surtees' lap of 119.8 km/h in his Ferrari at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1963 is the track's official record.
