Tourism - André Demonchy (1914-2003) - The Pyrenees, the town and castle of Foix, Pyrénées Ariège.1952. 100x62cm. Printed by Serre, Paris. Original poster, lithograph, not canvas-backed. Condition A- handling folds. The commune has a rich architectural heritage. One of its most emblematic monuments is the castle of the Counts of Foix, which can be seen majestically in the image. Today, the town is the capital of the Ariège department in the Occitanie region.André Demonchy is a master of naive art. He took part in various exhibitions in France and contributed to the illustration of Marcel Aymé's "Le Boeuf clandestin" in Gallimard's Romans parisiens suivis d'Uranus. He also exhibited at the Galerie de Berri in Paris in 1949. Max-Pol Fouchet, poet and art critic, had several works by André Demonchy in his collection of naive art. Two works by André Demonchy from his collection were donated to the Musée de Noyers: Le Manège and Le Train. Many of André Demonchy's creations can be found in major museums of naive art, such as the Musée international d'art naïf Anatole Jakovsky in Nice and the Musée d'Art naïf et d'Arts singuliers in Laval.
