1947 was an important year for Matisse as he published "Jazz". The composition, still tinged with Fauvism, gives a glimpse of a palm tree, but not of the Promenade des Anglais. It is in fact "Still Life with Pomegranates", painted in Vence, a village in Provence in the Alpes Maritimes. Nevertheless, the painting is now in the Musée Matisse in Nice.
