Description
Pierre Dukercy (1888-1945) - The Crushers, the Crushed. 1932. 80x120cm. Original poster, lithograph, not canvas-backed. Condition A-, traces of original folds, small tears in folds.
Renowned for his political caricatures, the Dordogne-born artist here produced a poster for the 1932 election campaign, mimicking the Union Républicaine Démocratique that split France in two. This left-wing party was in power at the time and was causing unrest in the country after the 1929 crisis.
On the train are Louis Marin, André Tardieu, Pierre Laval, Pétain, Raynaud, Paul Painlevé and André Maginot.
