Description
French Railways Medal of Honour. Circular silver medal suspended from a blue, white and red tricolour ribbon. The obverse features the effigy of the French Republic, surrounded by laurel branches and a design evoking the railways. The reverse features a composition representing a steam locomotive and a modern locomotive, symbolising the evolution of the railway, accompanied by the legend: "Médaille d'Honneur des Chemins de Fer". The exergue bears the engraver's signature, M. S. Planche, and the date 1975. The medal is accompanied by two lapel badges, one of which depicts a locomotive. Original tricolour ribbon. Good condition. Period: third quarter of the XXᵉ century (circa 1975).
