Description
Decoration of the Royal Order of the Star of Anjouan, instituted in 1874 by the Sultan of Anjouan (Comoros archipelago) and subsequently incorporated into the French colonial orders. Insignia in the form of a radiating star with multiple points in gilt metal. In the centre, a white enamelled circular medallion bearing a stylised hand with inscriptions in Arabic characters and the words "Commandeur de l'Ordre". Suspended by a pale green moiré ribbon with two vertical yellow stripes, with rosette indicating the rank of Commander. Smooth gilt metal reverse. Period: late XIXᵉ - first half of XXᵉ century. Accompanied by its certificate of award. Good overall condition, old ribbon with slight traces of use.
