Franco-Prussian war veteran's medal, 1870-1871. Silver-plated metal (or silver-plated bronze) veterans' medal commemorating the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. Suspended by an enlarged tricolour ribbon (blue, white, red) framed by green and black stripes, with an "1870-1871" clasp. Insignia in the form of a military trophy composed of arms, flags and breastplate, with the motto "Honneur aux défenseurs de la Patrie" ("Honour to the defenders of the Fatherland"). Smooth reverse. Period: late 19th - early 20th century (produced by veterans). Used condition, wear and minor alterations to the ribbon, metal with patina and traces of use.
