Description
Morocco Commemorative Medal. A patinated bronze medal instituted to commemorate French military operations in Morocco at the beginning of the 20th century. On the right, a helmeted effigy of the French Republic facing left, signed Georges Lemaire. On the reverse, an allegorical composition representing a military trophy with palms and oriental elements, evoking the Moroccan campaigns. Moiré silk ribbon with green and yellow vertical stripes (now heavily faded and altered). Mounted on a leafy hoop. Period: early 20th century.
