American military-style "bolo" machete, manufactured by Collins & Co (USA), a leading manufacturer of tools and edged weapons, mid 20th century. Wide, sharply curved steel blade with single cutting edge and drop point, inspired by the Filipino models used by the American army. The handle is fixed with brass rivets, providing good ergonomics. The scabbard is made of moulded brown leather with embossed decoration and brass fittings, with a fastening system. Typical of American military or utility equipment, used particularly in tropical environments. Used condition. Blade with traces of oxidation and micro-scratches. Handle in good condition. Used scabbard with patina. Blade length 38 cm. Period: First World War.
