Description
Jambiya dagger, Middle East (Yemen), 20th century. An important jambiya-type dagger, typical of the Arabian Peninsula, with a strongly curved, double-edged steel blade, decorated on one side with an engraved geometric design. The handle is made of wood or horn, with a typical flared shape and a metal ligature around the middle. It is preserved with its full leather scabbard sheathed in hide (hair preserved), with visible stitching and fitted with its leather suspension system. The scabbard is embellished with a metal bolt decorated in relief with traditional motifs. A homogeneous set, typical of traditional Yemeni production, used for pomp and prestige. Dimensions: blade 39.5 cm. Good condition. Blade with traces of use and slight oxidation. Beautiful patina. Worn leather and fastenings.
