Basque Makila with system - wooden pommel and concealed tip. Traditional Basque Makila consisting of a wooden shaft (probably medlar/chestnut), covered at the top with a braided leather sheath and fitted with a wrist strap. The spherical wooden pommel conceals an unscrewable system revealing a metal point (traditional defensive weapon), with a metal ferrule. Shaft with natural decoration. Shaft with natural decoration in relief (wood growth), fine patina from use. Good overall condition, traces of use and wear to leather and strap. Length : 86 cm. 20th century. Traditional Basque work.
