Description
Jacques-Sébastien TALBOT (1769–1841) at La Borne: A large stoneware jar for winemaking or maceration, decorated with small flowers and a triangular frieze at the shoulder, a central cartouche on the body featuring a relief depiction of a cherub’s head surrounded by a wreath of foliage, four side handles, a lid with two handles and a spout at the base. The interior is divided by two lids resting on broad ridges. The signature is located within the cartouche and dated 24 June 1830; there is also a note indicating that it belonged to Monsieur de Arnonvilles. - total height: approx. 110 cm, neck diameter: 58 cm (damage to the lid and a small inner lid, cracks and repairs to the body, and minor damage to the cherub’s nose).
