Description
Fernand ALLARD L'OLIVIER (1883–1933). Bather with a Red Scarf. Oil on panel. The signature in capital letters indicates that the work was produced before the First World War. It is similar to the ‘Baigneuses surprises’ which he had exhibited at the Salon des artistes français in 1912, the painting with which he had won his first prize in Paris. These are works he brought back from his holidays in Brittany; at that time, he used to visit Penmarc’h several times during the summer. We would like to thank Mrs Geneviève Allard-Gouinaud, the artist’s granddaughter and author of the book *Allard l’Olivier. De Tournai à Yanonge* as well as the online catalogue raisonné, for this historical and insightful information. Dimensions: 25 x 20 cm.
