Xavier de Poret was a French painter, illustrator and portrait painter who was born in Dinan in 1894 and died in Chambéry, Savoie, in 1975. Renowned for his drawings of animals and his social, military and equestrian portraits, he notably produced portraits of Elizabeth II and her children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne. He also created several illustrations for Hermès scarves.
